New York Fashion Week closed with a star-studded runway show signed by The Blonds. Known for their love of glamour and their campy aesthetic, designer couple Phillipe and David Blond are known for their celebrity-favorite creations. Over the years, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, and Rihanna have worn their looks.
At New York Fashion Week, The Blonds showed their Spring 2023 collection, which was inspired by their early 2000s Manhattan nightlife. The show was an ode to Y2K fashion – think lots of denim, metallics, and gold chains.
“We fell in love with dance music, hung out in the city, and that included people like Jennifer Lopez and Missy Elliott,” David Blond told Footwear News backstage before the show. “It also leads back to this idea of the past merging with the future.”
Celebrities such as Coi Leray, Gigi Gorgeous, and Cassie strutted the runway. The early 2000s R&B icon walked while her song, the 2006 hit “Long Way 2 Go,” was being played. She posed in a dark denim bodysuit and corseted bodice appended with gold chains and crystals. Cassie walked in matching Christian Louboutin thigh-high boots – one of the custom-made pairs designed in collaboration with the shoe brand for the show.
Cassie closed the show with no other than rapper and performer Saucy Santana. The “Material Girl” artist performed a musical set on the runway before the finale. The duo held hands as they strutted together to close The Blonds show – and subsequently – New York Fashion Week.
Talk about iconic!
