Halle Bailey Used This Instagram-Famous Makeup Brand On The Set Of ‘The Color Purple’

Today marks the brand’s fourth ‘birthday,’ according to Instagram.

One thing about Halle Bailey’s face card – it will never decline. Between her sweet smile and fresh-faced selfies, the girls continue to swarm to the four-time Grammy-nominated singer’s Instagram page as they await for the latest selfie to drop. Just a few days ago, Halle was serving “Black Marilyn Monroe vibes” and celebrity friends including Storm Reid, SZA, and Little Mix’s own Leigh Anne Pinnock all agreed that Halle was serving it up to the ‘gram and left no crumbs behind. The secret behind Halle’s effortless glow is none other than Skin Glass Beauty.

Makeup artist Mia “Mimi” Johnson, who also painted Halle’s face for Chloe x Halle’s recent Fendi x Versace campaign, explained to Girls United about her choice behind the products for the young actress’ face. “Halle is so naturally pretty and I wanted her skin and her eyes to be the stars of the show,” Johnson explained. “Skin prep is so important. She was prepped with a small amount of Neutrogena sunscreen, Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Amway Artistry Skin Nutrition Hydrating Eye Gel Cream, and Black Up matte primer in the T-zone areas.”

For one of the finishing touches on Halle’s face, the Atlanta-based entrepreneur sealed the deal with Skinglass’ Original Highlighting Oil and a mixture of the cream blushes in shades Sweet and Spicy on the top of Halle’s cheeks as well as the bridge of her nose. Sweet’s vibrant orange-red combined with Spicy’s medium-dark peach gave Halle the perfect natural flush of color to give rosiness to her cheeks. “I love the radiant glow that the products create. The colors are beautiful and the ingredients are safe. I’m super proud of the owner and my friend Noor,” Johnson gushed about the products to Girls United.

“Today is Skinglass‘ 4th birthday. Wow,” founder Noor ‘Noorface’ Farooq wrote on the brand’s Instagram account this morning. “I truly cannot even compute or put into words how monumental this feels. Starting with the OG Highlighting Oil…never in a million years did I imagine, ONE product would turn into an entire brand.” Since its inception, Skinglass Beauty has released additional products including a jojoba and vitamin A and B5 moisturizer, a skin mist, a body after-bath oil serum, and a lip tone.

When asked about the growth of her brand across social media, Farooq did not hesitate to give herself and the Skinglass brand its due flowers. Throughout the past four years, she has continued to build a brand around what she defines as “clean, effortless makeup” that allows users to feel like their most beautiful selves. “I always wanted to see the person before the makeup and allow them to feel the best in their skin [and] not overwhelmed with product,” Farooq said via email. Her personal brand’s reputation opened a floodgate of trusted followers and supporters who supported her during her transition from renowned makeup artist to entreprenuer. “I stayed true to my aesthetic and style allowing my ‘why’ to remain authentic. My products are a direct reflection of my work. SKINGLASS is such a classic beauty brand and offers everyday skin essentials for any and everyone!”

Farooq told Girls United in an email interview that “the soul of the brand” resides within the importance of healthy skin, which is how her first product, the OG Highlighting Oil, was born. “As much as clean ingredients are important to the formulations, so is versatility. I wanted to create products that allow people to feel beautiful in their skin. I’ve been a professional makeup artist for [over 12] years and when I set out to create the first product, I wanted it to reflect my artistry – a skin-first approach,” Farooq told GU. As an MUA, she appreciates a good skin prep routine filled with hydration and moisture to set the precedence for a beautiful canvas like Halle’s.
