“Savage” rapper Megan Thee Stallion has taken to Instagram to reveal that she was shot on Sunday, July 12. Her statement comes after days of online rumors swirling that she had been arrested along with Tory Lanez.
“The narrative that is being reported about Sunday’s morning events are inaccurate and I’d like to set the record straight,” her post began. “On Sunday morning, I suffered gunshot wounds, as a result of a crime that was committed against me and done with the intention to physically harm me.”
As stated, the 25-year-old artist cleared up speculation that she had been arrested, saying that police officers drove her to the hospital. Upon arrival, the bullets were removed.
Megan has had an intense year thus far. She shared her label troubles earlier in mid March, stating that her primary record label was preventing her from releasing new music. After a court decided that she could move forward with the release, she unleashed her Suga EP, and the standout single “Savage” gripped national attention thanks to a viral TikTok dance. The song’s remix featured Beyonce and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100. The status of Megan’s label issues are currently unclear.
The rapper was also called out by the daughter of late MC Eazy-E, after Megan’s “Girls In The Hood” song was revealed to sample “Boyz In The Hood.”
We are praying for a speedy recovery for our shining star.
