Cardi B’s Pregnancy Reveal
As said perfectly by GU’s first cover star Marsai Martin, “Okay, Bardi with the baby bump!”
During Migos’ performance of “Type Sh*t,” Cardi B debuted her pregnancy belly and revealed that she is expecting baby number two with rapper husband Offset.
DMX Tribute Featuring Method Man, Griselda, Swizz Beatz and More
Everyone in the audience had tears in their eyes and X’s raised in the air during the tribute for DMX performance by Swizz Beatz, The Lox, Method Man, Track, Michael K Williams, Lil Buck and Busta Rhymes. The crowd quickly rose to their feet as they went through the rolodex of his greatest hits, including “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” and “Party Up (Up In Here).”
Lil Nas X’s “Montero” Performance
The “Old Town Road” artist paid homage to the late Michael Jackson with a live performance honoring Jackson’s “Remember The Time” music video. From the costume design to stage lighting and choreography, this performance was one not to miss.
Megan Thee Stallion Wins The Most Awards, Nabbing 4 Total
It’s a Hot Girl Year! Fan favorite Megan Thee Stallion went home with four BET Awards: Viewer’s Choice, Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year and Best Collaboration.
Silk Sonic’s Silky Smooth Performance
Bruno Mars and Anderson.Paak, also known as Silk Sonic, gave the soothing performance we were all waiting for last night with “Leave The Door Open.” Silk Sonic also went home with a BET Award for Best Group.
The Ultimate Queen Latifah Tribute
A tribute fit for a queen was delivered for the one and only Queen Latifah. Monie Love, Rapsody, MC Lyte and Lil’ Kim joined forces to put on the ultimate performance to give their flowers to the “Equalizer” star by throwing it back to her most notable hits, “Just Another Day,” “Ladies First,” and “U.N.I.T.Y.”
Queen Latifah’s Emotional Acceptance Speech
Following the tribute, Queen Latifah tearfully accepted her BET Lifetime Achievement Award. With her father by her side and a picture of her late mother in her hand, the “Living Single” actress thanked her best friends, family and fans for riding with her throughout her career.
Jazmine Sullivan Recruits Ari Lennox For Live Performance
What’s better than one R&B soul songstress? Two! Following her ESSENCE Festival of Culture performance and gracing the July/August cover of ESSENCE, Jazmine Sullivan gave a performance to remember at the BET Awards with Maxine Waters giving a chilling foreword and Ari Lennox joining her for a live rendition of “On It.”
