Halle Bailey and DDG gave fans a glimpse of their relationship behind the scenes and it might be the cutest, most wholesome thing you’ve seen all day. In his music video for “If I Want You,” DDG featured Bailey as his on-screen love interest – in addition to being his leading lady in real life. The couple is seen embracing one another and locking eyes throughout the music video.
The rapper also shared behind the scene footage of the music video – giving us a rare glimpse at how the project came to be. If DDG and Bailey’s chemistry is apparent on screen in HD, their connection becomes even clearer behind the scenes.
They are seen laughing together and hugging when the camera cuts and in between scenes. They also challenged each other to a swim race in the pool where they shot ethereal underwater footage of them kissing.
Bailey and DDG were rumored to be a couple in January 2022, when they were spotted attending Usher’s Las Vegas residency. In March, they made things official on Bailey’s birthday as DDG took to Instagram to celebrate his girlfriend’s special day.
“I’ve been a fan of his for years. I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them,” Bailey told ESSENCE during her cover story interview for the September global fashion issue. “I completely forgot about him. But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history.”
Bailey was asked if she was in love, to which she answered, “Yes. For sure I am.”
