Tinashe And Halle Bailey Perform At NFL Season Opener At SoFi Stadium
The National Football League’s 2022 season opened with star-studded performances. On September 8, Tinashe and Halle Bailey performed before the game opposing the Los Angeles Rams to the Buffalo Bills at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.
Bailey performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by J. Rosamond Johnson and James Weldon Johnson. “Lift every voice and sing / ‘Till Earth and heaven ring / Ring with the harmonies of Liberty,” she sang in front of the stadium. Tinashe then proceeded to perform the “Star-Spangled Banner” before kickoff.
“Thank you @rams for having me… was honoured to sing ‘lift every voice,’” Bailey captioned an Instagram post featuring a video of the performance. Her big sister and Chloe x Halle duo member Chlöe commented, “beautiful!!!!” to encourage her little sis.
After her performance, Bailey attended the game with her boyfriend, rapper and YouTube sensation DDG. She posted a series of photographs where the couple is seen smiling and wearing matching Rams jerseys. The star of The Little Mermaid recently told Essence she is currently in the studio working with her sister.
Tinashe shared with W that her goal is to go back to a carefree love for music. “Now that I’m independent and I’ve been in the game for a decade, I’m really big on saying yes to a lot, and not overthinking things,” she said. “I’m just trying to get back to that original mindset of, we make art for fun. This is a privilege to be able to make any type of art. In my 30s, I want to have fun being a creative and a mogul. But I’m far from done with my music era. I feel like that’s still on the come up.”
