Zae France‘s journey started from the picturesque views of North Carolina. Now, he’s transitioning to the glitzy stages of international fame as he prepares to release his debut album Perspective. He recently released a new track entitled “Better Love,” which is just a taste of what to expect. Born and raised in the charming town of Mount Airy, his childhood was steeped in the soul-stirring melodies of gospel music, courtesy of his mother’s enchanting voice, which showed him the meaning of culture. It was within these humble beginnings that the seeds of his destiny were planted as he soaked in the rich tapestry of sounds that surrounded him.
France found the strength and encouragement to pursue his dreams with unbridled passion and determination despite the tests of navigating a blended and talented family dynamic. Inspired by Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Eric Bellinger, and Tank, he credits viewing his mother’s musical palette as an inspiration to become an artist. “She nurtured me on a prosperous diet of gospel music, which eventually guided me into stepping in melodies, adlibs, runs, and harmonies,” he says. His family dynamic of growth and presentation continues to be a source of inspiration and stability for him, establishing the groundwork for his music career.
When the 29-year-old entered adolescence, a move to Connecticut marked a new chapter in his life, filled with excitement and uncertainty.”Singing has been a lifelong passion of mine,” he tells GU. “It wasn’t until after high school that I truly dedicated myself to it, and I’ve been fully committed ever since.” In this unfamiliar territory, he discovered his true calling in the rhythmic cadence of R&B, finding solace, purpose, and discovery.

His rise to prominence grew as the years passed by, and his music caught the attention of influential online platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. The reposts catapulted him into the limelight of internet fame, sparking excitement within the R&B community. France’s musical journey started with his debut track, “TLC.” With determination driving him, he swiftly delved into a studio session, intent on creating a standout song that would resonate with listeners. France captivated audiences from the outset by infusing it with an irresistible vibe, setting the stage for his continued success.
His talent propelled him to amass a substantial following. Social media has played a pivotal role in France’s music journey, broadening his audience beyond traditional channels. Consistent sharing of music, performances, and personal stories has cultivated a loyal fanbase known as the FRANCEchise.
“I’m genuinely touched and immensely grateful for the steadfast support from my incredible community,” he says. “Their unwavering dedication means the world to me. Whether belting out the lyrics or embracing my latest releases, they go above and beyond. From organizing events to spreading the word, their commitment inspires me daily.”
He is determined to exhilarate the historical genre as he ventures into reshaping a slice of R&B, especially amid its ever-shifting channel. “I’m very ambitious regarding elevating the pressure and finesse within R&B,” he says.

As France stands at the forefront of a new generation of R&B, he hopes to deliver a new outlook on storytelling through this upcoming album. “Initially, Perspective was envisioned as a sonic journey through the highs and lows of my life,” he says.“Each song serves as a narrative, encapsulating my emotions and viewpoints.”
His focus shifts, even pinpointing inspiration from his experiences and other people’s stories. He desires to navigate the complexities of rhythm and intimacy, weaving together melodies and motions that continue to echo through this anticipated project, especially regarding the other side of his perspective. France’s songwriting process is profoundly intertwined with the beat, which serves as more than just a rhythm—it is a living, breathing entity that resonates with him on a soul-deep level.
Every time he sits down to write, he surrenders to the beat’s guidance, listening intently as it whispers to his essence. He creates music by letting the beat guide him, producing melodies harmonizing with the rhythm. Once he finds the right melody, he adds lyrics that match the mood and energy of the beat. From there, he dives into the heart of the songwriting process, exploring various themes and emotions while allowing the music to dictate the direction of his lyrics. As he completes each song, he approaches the finish line with confidence and fulfillment, knowing he has stayed true to his creative vision. “This album marks my debut with Def Jam Recordings, and I want it to resonate deeply with listeners, evoking the same emotions they felt when they heard their first R&B song,” he says.
With anticipation, his excitement for fans to submerge themselves in his musical realm continues to grow. His enthusiasm mirrors a profound look into what he will bring to the beloved soul-stirring tone and storytelling genre. “The album could be Grammy-worthy; I’m manifesting it,” he tells GU.After recently wrapping up back-to-back tours with R&B veterans Ne-Yo and Eric Bellinger, the singer is ready to take center stage in his career and bring a refreshing element to R&B. “I hail from a quaint little town in North Carolina, where I spent my childhood dreaming of achieving my greatest goal,” he says. “Through hard work and perseverance, I have successfully manifested my aspirations into reality, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the journey.”
