If you’re already slightly stressed about what to wear for Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, you may not be thinking about your nail design. Luxury nail care brand Pear Nova is coming to the rescue, though, so you don’t have to go through the hassle of getting your nails done. Their upcoming collaboration will make your nails feel as expensive as vibranium. 

The Pear Nova x Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Layovers collection launches for pre-sale this October. The collaboration will include three sets of Layovers with custom designs from minority artists and creatives. Layovers are the “sequel to Pear Nova’s award-winning, luxury, vegan and nontoxic (10 free) nail lacquers.” Each set will have 24 almond-shaped faux nails, one nail file/buffer, one cuticle stick, and one nail glue. Individual sets will sell for $25.50 USD, and the three-set collection will sell for $70 USD. 

The first set, called Vibranium Claws Layovers, are blue faux nails with an iridescent green, gold, and blue art design in a black frame representing Wakanda’s vibranium. The second set, Wakandan Tech 101 Layovers, has a transparent nail base with a white streak and grey tip. This set is inspired by Shuri’s lab, Wakandan technology, and the scientific advancements behind the Black Panther’s coveted claw necklace. The last set, Rituals + Royals Layovers, has a matte-finish nail with multi-colored brush strokes in pink, orange, green, and red. Wakanda’s all-female special forces, the Dora Milaje, inspired these nails.

The inspiration behind this collection was a combination of Pear Nova Founder and CEO Rachel James’s love of Black Panther and her own life.  

“As a boy-Mom turned Marvel fanatic, I, like so many other people, fell in love with all the elements of Black Panther,” shared Pear Nova’s Founder and CEO Rachel James in an official press release. “From Wakanda’s rich culture to female governance, I was completely inspired by their world and everything in it.”

Not only was James able to create a collection that stuck to the ethos of her own company, which is bridging the gap between beauty and community, but she also bridged the gap between beauty and culture. 

“In creating our first collection of Layovers, I wanted to pay homage to the story that inspired so many and express the adoration I felt for Black Panther and Wakanda. I also wanted to develop a product that would make my sons proud, and I think with this collection, we’ve accomplished all of that and more,” James continued.
