Kid Cudi is not only recognized as a talented rapper, but his bold fashion choices will always capture the attention of the masses. Last night, the “Day ‘n’ Night” rapper graced the CFDA Fashion Awards red carpet in a custom wedding dress only fit for rap royalty.
As reported by HighSnobiety, the Cleveland, Ohio native graced the red carpet in an ERL custom wedding gown and was accompanied by ERL designer Eli Russell Linnetz himself.
With less than two days to spare until the 11th anniversary of his second studio album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, Cudi celebrated with a bang and took the night for all of the fashion worlds to behold. The look was completed with lace gloves to match the bottom tier of the dress along with custom low tops and a fitted tuxedo jacket. Under his veil, Cudi sported hot pink hair and the ultimate smokey eye to complete the look.

The West Coast label was launched in 2018 by Linnetz, who was nominated as the American Emerging Designer of the Year. According to Vogue, Linnetz first stepped into the fashion industry as a creative director and photographer who has worked with major artists including Kanye West and Lady Gaga, as reported by Vogue. Linnetz has made his mark by “putting unexpected twists on classic American sartorial staples” with examples including A$AP Rocky’s MET Gala look repurposed from a thrifted quilt.
This isn’t the first time that Cudi has given the middle finger to heteronormative gender roles and expectations. Back in April, the artist paid homage to one of his musical inspirations, the late Kurt Cobain, and wore a floral Off-White gown for his Saturday Night Live performance.
According to Vogue, last night’s look was finished off with a pendant necklace paying homage to Black Jesus, which served as a nod to the Black honorees at the CFDA Fashion Awards including Zendaya, Christopher John Rogers, Telfar Clemens, and Dapper Dan.
