We all remember the infamous scene of Tyra Banks raising her voice at America’s Next Top Model contestant Tiffany Richardson during Cycle 4. Known as one of the most iconic scenes from the franchise, Banks yelled “We were rooting for you!,” not knowing that it would soon become one of the most meme-able moments in reality television history. Inspired by the moment, rapper Flo Milli recreated the ANTM scene as a promotion for her new single, “PBC,” which is streaming now.
Titled Flo Milli’s Next Top Model, the 22-year-old rapper channeled her inner actress by taking on the roles of a spoof version of Banks and Richardson. Instead of recreating the full scene, Flo Milli redirected the attention to her latest “PBC” single, which stands for “pretty, Black, cute,” according to the lyrics. “If you want to be a PBC like the rest of these ladies, then when you go to bed at night, you need to take responsibility for yourself because no one is going to take responsibility for you,” Flo Milli imitated complete with a copper frontal wig and 2000s style blush.
“I was ROOTING 4 UUUUUUUU,” Flo Milli tweeted prior to dropping the short teaser, along with an accompanying meme to match. One Twitter user praised Flo Milli for her “epic remakes” of scenes such as the one from ANTM, while another gave her props for always paying homage to moments, artists, and legends before her.
The Mobile, Alabama-based artist teamed up with producer YoungFyre for “PBC,” which was officially released last night. The single promotes unapologetic confidence, empowerment, and all-around slay for Black women. ”PBC” is a follow-up from Flo Milli’s 2021 song “Ice Baby,” her feature on Rico Nasty’s “Money,” and her viral “I Am” collaboration with Yung Baby Tate.
