International Volunteer Day highlights a new theme of the power of collective action: if everyone did. Through volunteering, people worldwide can help those in need and create a difference in the development of marginalized voices.
Social media has opened the door for Zillennials to find new organizations to volunteer for in order to seek change and make a difference. According to the 2021 Volunteering in America Report found that 60.7 million adults volunteered for 4.1 billion hours.
With the state of the world focusing on various issues happening it’s important that Zillennials have resources to find where they can help make an impact through volunteering.
Young Survival Coalition
The Young Survival Coalition brings awareness to Zillennial youth getting breast cancer. There are often misconceptions about the disease and being a young adult. The YSC began in 1998 to dive into the research and community surrounding the lack of resources for those diagnosed at a young age.
Save The Children
In 1919, Eglantyne Jebb founded Save The Children to further her initiative toward the health and education of children worldwide. According to data, in 2022 alone, programs and partners helped 118 million children in 116 countries advance childhood development across the globe.
Feeding America
The issue of food insecurity has grown over the years, and many families cannot afford everyday groceries. Feeding America’s goal is to continue to inform the world about the communities impacted by hunger. According to data, approximately 1 in 6 people turned to charitable food assistance for extra support in 2022.
Girls, Inc.
Girls, Inc. focuses on the work of policy and advocacy for young girls during their formative years. Through various resources, the organization continues to advocate for policies to support young girls who experience violence and trauma, encouraging others to fight for the well-being of the next generation.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross focuses on pillars like unity, independence, humanity and more. The community prevents and reduces stress during emergencies by rallying volunteers and donors. Through serving people in need the American Red Cross has over 140 years of community and advocacy.
