Naomi Osaka has proven to be a forced to be reckoned with. From her reigning US Open championship title, to her celebratory Black love spread in GQ with rapper boyfriend Cordae, the tennis superstar is showing off her multifaceted magic in all avenues and we love to see it! Now, the four-time Grand Slam singles champion is swerving into a new lane — skincare.
“I’m very excited to announce that I’ll be launching @kinloskin, a new brand of skincare products developed to protect and rejuvenate melanated skin tones,” Osaka tweeted on April 27. “I hope these products can help a lot of people and potentially save lives.”
According to Business of Fashion via HighSnobiety, the brand, called KINLÓ, will not only focus on the beauty aspect, but will also act as a sun protectant. The first few products are reported to include: “SPF 40 tinted face lotion that also protects against blue light, an SPF 50 tinted face lotion formulated specifically for activity, restorative body spray, recovery lip balm, and recovery eye cream.”
Paying homage to her biracial background (her mother is Japanese and her father is Haitian,) the name gives a nod to both of her cultures — “Kin” means “gold” in Japanese, “ló” means “gold” in Haitian Creole.
Though Osaka hinted at a fall release in her tweet, the website does not indicate a specific launch date. All products are slated to be affordable and cost under $20 per product and will be sold direct-to-consumer via the official website.
