Ahead of the 2021 Grammy Awards, Megan Thee Stallion has revealed that she may perform with 24-time Grammy winner Beyoncé at the show. The event is set to take place on January 31.
During a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, the “Body” rapper shared that the two Houstonians may hit the stage together.
“At the Grammys ceremony — for which she says she hasn’t yet settled on a piece of “arm candy” to be her date — Megan says she’s in talks to perform “Savage” with Beyoncé, who will compete against herself for record of the year with her song “Black Parade,” the piece read. This is Megan’s first year being nominated and she’s up for four awards—”Record of the Year,” “Best New Artist,” Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song.” She is nominated for “Savage” in three of those categories.
Beyoncé is the most nominated artist at the 2021 Grammys, with 9 nods, and is the most nominated woman in Grammy history. This year, she is up for awards in the following categories: Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl,” Best Music Film “Black Is King,” Song of the Year for “Black Parade,” Record of the Year “Black Parade” and “Savage,” Best R&B Song for “Black Parade,” Best R&B Performance for “Black Parade,” Best Rap Song for “Savage” and Best Rap Performance for “Savage.”
Her daughter, 8-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, is also sharing a record for being the youngest Grammy nominee in history. Carter is nominated for Best Music Video for “Brown Skin Girl.”
Megan and Beyoncé collaborated on “Savage” in April, remixing the song which first appeared on Megan’s Suga EP released earlier this year. All of the proceeds from the song went towards providing COVID-19 relief in their native Houston. The song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late May.
