Rapper and humanitarian Jaden Smith will be opening a restaurant catered to feeding the homeless. Named after his “I Love You” food truck initiative, (which he launched nearly two years ago on his 21st birthday,) the “Watch Me” artist will be fulfilling his goal of providing free vegan meals to the less fortunate in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.
“It’s for homeless people to get free food,” he told Variety. While Smith’s restaurant is inclusive to all, the actor says there’s a price patrons will have to pay. “[I]f you’re not homeless, not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay for more than the food’s worth so that you can pay for the person behind you,” he said,
This is not Jaden’s first time showcasing his philanthropy. The 22-year-old is also the owner of JUST Water and is leading 501CTHREE.org’s Water Box project to provide access to clean water to underserved communities. Two years ago, the JUST Water company put in a water filtration system in Flint, Michigan. Flint has been without clean water for nearly a decade.
