Teyana Taylor Named Creative Director Of PrettyLittleThing

We rounded up her flyest, laidback fashion moments in honor of the news.

On December 8, multi-hyphenate Teyana Taylor announced a major career move—she will serve as the creative director of UK-based fashion company PrettyLittleThing for one year. The R&B singer told fans in a post on Instagram that she and the company will “be collaborating on some amazing projects together” and shared how excited she is to get started. “What a way to bring some positive vibes & more #blackgirlmagic into 2021,” she wrote.

Last month, Taylor announced she would be pulling back from the music industry, due to her feelings of being snubbed and unappreciated by her label Def Jam. Fans of Taylor expressed their sadness on Twitter when she was not nominated in any R&B categories ahead of the 63rd Grammy Awards. In her initial post about being a little less active musically, Taylor noted that she would be stepping into a new, then-undisclosed lane.

“To all my supporters from day 1 & all my new ones I love you and I thank you for everything & don’t worry y’all know all hustlers have the understanding that when one door closes another will open,” she wrote.

Taylor is a multifaceted artist, with experience as a producer, actress, dancer, and designer. She also has a background in the fashion industry—in 2017 she collaborated with Reebok and one year later, she was the face of the PrettyLittleThing X Karl Kani collaboration.

Following the news, PLT sent out a congratulatory post to Taylor on their Instagram page, saying the collaboration is “gonna be one to remember” and wishing the new creative director a happy birthday. Fans are excited to see the work Taylor and the popular fashion brand will bring in the upcoming year.
