Here’s A Few Updates To Know About The Presidential Election

The 2024 election is swiftly approaching, and many concerns and updates are still happening that Zillennials continue to seek more insight on. According to the Pew Research Center, Nearly three-quarters of Americans (73 percent) rate strengthening the economy as a top priority. That is considerably larger than the shares citing any other policy goal. Through this election season, we’re seeing an increase in concern for various community issues affecting marginalized residents worldwide.

With Gen Z’ers getting older, a new class of young people is entering the polls. Statistics are revealing new studies about what Zillennials are focusing on regarding voting. According to Marist Poll, 60 percent of registered voters nationally say they know for whom they will vote, and nothing can change their mind.

About four in ten can be persuaded, including 29 percent who say they have a good idea for whom they will vote but could still switch to another candidate and 12 percent who have not decided. 63 percent of Biden’s supporters, compared with 59 percent of Trump’s supporters, say their vote is solid.

As November gets closer, here are the major updates that continue to be the trending topic of election season, which Zillennials can continue to analyze.

The Economy Is A Major Concern

The state of the economy changed throughout the years. For this new electoral term, the economic structure is a critical concern for both parties. According to data, large shares of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (84 percent) and Democrats and Democratic leaners (63 percent) view strengthening the nation’s economy as a top priority this year, as they have for the past several years.

The Polls Show A Shift

According to a survey by Split Ticket, Joe Biden is gaining with seniors while cratering with young voters, whom many public polls have begun to portray as exceptionally Trump-curious. Some recent high-quality polls have found Biden losing voters under 30 outright.

Voter Analytics Show A Divide In Voter Decision

With a new class of voters coming into election season, various shifts are happening, including changes in voter decisions. “The presidential contest remains close, but there are some interesting twists which run counter to the conventional wisdom,” Lee M. Miringoff, Director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion said in a statement. “Three points to note: first, about four in ten voters are not rock solid in their choice for president; second, Biden supporters are slightly more locked in; and third, Democrats are more cohesive in their positions on the issues.”

Young Voters Are A Priority

With Gen Z’ers getting older, they can bring a new, diverse perspective to the election. According to Pew Research Center, Older adults are far less supportive of same-day voter registration than younger adults. They are also more supportive of removing people from registration lists if they have not voted recently.
