New Yorkโs most fashionable creatives flocked to Brooklyn last weekend to attend CultureCon โ the annual creative festival founded by Imani Ellis. Sculpted silhouettes, fringe, and subverted suiting were spotted, and unexpected details catapulted already superb outfits to the next level. Elsewhere, trans-seasonal styling took center stage once more as some of our faves adjusted to the dropping temperatures.
Model and hair artist Kayra Theodore (styled by Rachel Waxenberg) was one of CultreConโs best dressed in a grey pinstripe corset with frog closures, which sat atop a white off-the-shoulder shirt and a matching, partially deconstructed, pleated skirt. Layered under were blue and white striped shorts that humorously had โleftโ and โrightโ printed on each leg. An antique-style, silver hand mirror was attached to the end of a chain and slung around the waist as a belt, and a fringed, black handbag and slip-on heels were the perfect finishing touches.
Fashion entrepreneur Juju took the creative conference by storm as well, boldly playing with patterns in a way that most would shy away from; A black and white nipped-waist houndstooth skirt suit was paired with matching tights, while a fringe-covered handbag and heels, black shades, and a black hijab topped off the look nicely.
Outside of CultureCon, Pais Fashion Week came to a close, bookending a month full of exciting debuts and trendsetting street style. Stylist and creative consultant Alica Hadid proved that micro shorts are seasonless, attending a show wearing a black pair with sheer tights and a blue leather drop-shoulder jacket that jutted out at the hips. Carla, a model and digital creator, double-belted her micros and threw on a charcoal grey leather jacket and furry boots. Like Alica, Carla kept her legs warm with black tights.
Letโs be honest; Instagram can be the best place to find your next outfit. There is nothing wrong with grabbing a little inspiration from the Internet, and these creatives brought the best style this week.
