New York Fashion Week is an exciting time. The atmosphere is buzzing with creativity, and a week packed full of runway shows, parties, and pop-ups means that everyone is eager to step out looking their best. This week’s trends? Suiting that tosses traditional menswear codes out the window and fun color blocking done in bright, attention-grabbing shades.
Fashion stylist Sandra Vainqueur attended dinner wearing a silk-blend Christopher John Rogers jacket with a ruched, fitted bodice and extra wide lapels. Pops of color came in the form of five buttons in rainbow shades that ran down the center line of the jacket. To complete the look, Vainqueur chose an ankle-length, netted black skirt, satin mules from Prada in a stunning orange, and an Alaัa clutch.
Multi-disciplinary creative Nneka Ibeabuchi hit up Pradaโs fragrance launch party in a single-breasted, notch lapel blazer and matching skirt from her brand, Madua Buchi. Adorning the top half of the blazer were buttons in various colors and sizes, adding a charming element of playfulness. Underneath, Ibeabuchi sported a crisp, white button-up and sheer black tights. A pair of silver Prada slingbacks was the perfect finishing touch on a look that cleverly combined whimsy and tailoring.
Looking for an easy way to make a good impression during fashion week? Bold pops of color will always do the trick. Digital creator Fola Amudipe wore a faux fur oversized dress in mustard yellow from India-based brand RHYCNI. Amudipe proved herself a color blocking expert by topping off her look with green netted heels, a faux croc leather handbag in a blue-green gradient, and silver jewelry.
Naomi Parris, assistant shopping editor at Popsugar, sat front row at Brandon Maxwellโs 10th anniversary runway show in a beautiful pink, rib knit skirt set with green trim from Fumi The Label. Parris took her look a step further, throwing on metallic pink pumps, oversized shades, and a cream colored handbag with just the right amount of slouch.
Letโs be honest; Instagram can be the best place to find your next outfit. There is nothing wrong with grabbing a little inspiration from the Internet, and these creatives brought the best style this week.
