Von Dutch Paris is expanding the brand with its first luxury eyewear collection crafted and curated in the Paris-based design studio, where the label keeps the history and craftsmanship within the country.
With this new collection, the eyewear brand hopes to offer a global perspective in terms of design and trends.
The retro-inspired, genderless collection pays tribute to 1990s art and culture, using mirrored lenses, classic shapes, and metal frames to match luxury materials with reflective trends.
Each of the frames is titled after influential figures in American history, marking the trends that appear in fashion today, from Catherine Deneuve and Le Corbusier to James Dean, Man Ray, Ray Charles, and Steve McQueen.
The style of the frames consists of a metal framed mask with mirrored lenses spelling out the iconic Von Dutch named after Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain. Earl Pickens, Artistic Director of Von Dutch, notes that this eyewear collection is created to bring the brand into a new space that celebrates eyewear styles from iconic decades.
The glasses consist of various colors, from sun-kissed orange to olive green, with reflective shades and massive frames. The Von Dutch Paris Eyewear collection ranges from $250 to $390 and is available exclusively at vondutch.com.
Von Dutch is a fashion brand created in the early 2000s directed by French designer Christian Audigier. The brand has been a pop culture and music staple for over 15 years and catapulted into the fashion world. Pickens continues to guide the future of Von Dutch to a spot where street culture intertwines with luxury fashion.
“While we already have mastered the luxury clothing sector, eyewear has always been at the top of our list for our newest product and we couldn’t be more excited to debut this launch,” Pickens told WWD. “This line celebrates favorite eyewear styles from iconic decades in fashion but with a high-end twist and they perfectly represent the new Von Dutch Paris line that we are excited to showcase worldwide.”
