In an era where line items on a resume rarely stay inside a single box, navigating a modern creative career requires a completely different playbook. The days of sticking to one lane are fading fast, replaced by a generation of multi-hyphenates who edit, produce, style, and launch brands simultaneously. Behind that cultural shift is Antonia Alia, Founder of Creative Society and former big tech partner strategist, who recognized a glaring gap in how the industry supports this new wave of multi dimensional talent.

Having worked behind the scenes at major social platforms, most notably TikTok during its rise as the center of digital culture, Alia saw firsthand how top creators were expanding their horizons beyond short form videos. Yet, traditional networking spaces weren’t evolving at the same pace.

"I saw this clear gap that there was no community or network that really reflected this new creative class and their ambition to do everything," Alia tells GU. "That's why at Creative Society events, the way the room is really intentional. You'll see stylists with founders, media professionals, and content creators because that cross pollination is how culture is actually being created."

That intentionality was clear at recent Creative Society gatherings, where the room felt less like a stiff corporate mixer and more like an organic meeting of minds. By bringing together visionary talent and the behind-the-scenes strategists who execute those visions, the network creates a rare space for authentic connection across industries.

For creatives looking to navigate this evolving ecosystem, Alia’s experience on both sides of the platform wall offers a fresh perspective on how to build, scale, and stand out.

Stop Overthinking and Execute Early

One of the most common hurdles creators face is waiting for the perfect moment or over refining their strategy before posting. Having watched content volume surge across social platforms, Alia emphasizes that timing and consistency matter more than ever.

"If you want to be a creator, there's no better time to start than right now," Alia notes. "As the content volume on these apps gets higher and higher, breaking through becomes more and more difficult. The first thing I always say is stop overthinking and actually just put out some content."

Shift from Lifestyle Vlogs to Utilitarian Content

The mechanics of what catches on social media have shifted dramatically over the past few years. What worked half a decade ago, like basic dance trends or casual day-in-the-life vlogs, no longer holds the same weight with modern audiences or platform algorithms. Today, Gen Z increasingly treats social platforms like search engines, looking for actionable learning over passive scrolling.

"Right now, we are at content that actually delivers value to people," Alia explains. "If you're not delivering some type of actual value where people are learning from you or being entertained in a way they can't find elsewhere, it's going to be really hard to break through. It shouldn't be about you. It should be about what value you can deliver to other people."

Whether sharing specialized knowledge, breaking down industry strategy, or offering distinct creative inspiration, identifying your unique value proposition is essential to building an active audience.

Focus on Engagement Over Massive Follower Counts

While high follower numbers were once considered the ultimate measure of digital success, the focus among brand partners and industry insiders has shifted toward engagement rates and niche authority. Cultivating a dedicated community that actively interacts with your work builds far more long term momentum than chasing short term viral peaks.

"High engagement will definitely get you noticed by people on the business side of content creation," Alia says. "Right now, you actually need to be known for something. There's an oversaturation of options, but having high authority in your niche will always make you stand out."

Prepare for the Jump to Traditional Media and Production

Looking ahead, the definition of a digital creator will continue to expand. Platforms like YouTube are rapidly becoming new launchpads for Hollywood level productions, mini series, and traditional entertainment projects, giving creators direct control over their narrative trajectories.

"We'll see fashion creators becoming producers," Alia points out. "If you're a creator and you can edit and write scripts, doing that on a more produced scale is an easy next step. I think we'll start to see more of that bridge from content creation into traditional media."

Protect Your Energy as a Founder

Balancing multiple creative pursuits or running a business alongside a full time career requires continuous structure, strategic delegation, and personal grace. For Alia, scaling Creative Society into a recognized network while handling events has meant leaning into her core strengths and building a trusted inner circle.

"It's really important to find the right team people who believe in the vision and are experts in their field," Alia says. "Stick to your superpower and delegate things that are other people's superpowers early on. Being patient with myself is key, because every business early on is chaotic. Just being gracious with yourself and proud when you hit major milestones makes all the difference."

As Creative Society prepares for its next series of conversation series, expanded event formats, and strategic brand partnerships, Alia remains committed to providing the structural ecosystem this multi dimensional creative generation needs to thrive.

"We'll be having another iconic conversation in November with a really cool creative," says Alia. "We're also going deeper with our community, exploring new creative formats for events across different domains from film to fashion, monetizing with more brand partners, and building out content series to expand our reach."
